Promo! Promo! Promo!
Are you looking to hear even MORE of my stories and opinions? Well boy do I have a surprise for you!
This past weekend I was invited to be on the Endless Scroll Podcast (again) hosted by my fellow music writer twitter 25 and unders Eli Enis and Eric Bennett! I’ve traveled in the same internet circles as Eli and Eric for a good while now and I think they’re both wonderful and brilliant. They’ve also got a daily newsletter where they (and occasional guests) review new songs Monday to Friday that you should subscribe to!
I’ve been on the podcast before where we talked about the Future Of Music Writing but also I told a story about a bad Whitney gig I went to in 2018! Well worth your listen for that alone!
This time we talked about Anthony Fantano as well as discussed our thoughts on Shamir, Cartalk, and Bartees Strange. Their thoughts are more eloquent and pleasant to listen to than mine as I am mostly just an idiot who listens to one band. But anyway, it was really fun to see their faces on my computer screen and make fun of the music writer twitter feedback loop with people who are subjected to it as much as I am.
If you didn’t read my newsletter about Anthony Fantano you can do so here— but i go over the major points on the pod too. Eli also makes a lot of really interesting and valid point about Fantano’s huge, very real influence on his base and how that weighs on artists among other things that were outside the scope of focus of my essay. If the interesection of youtube and music, or any kind of media, criticism is something of interest to you I’d super recommend listening!
Huge thanks to Eli and Eric for letting me chat shit on their awesome podcast! You can listen to it wherever you get your podcasts but here it is on spotify:
You can also check out some of their other written work as they are far more talented than I:
